Welcome to Team Askew's blog! Some days may be crazy days around here, but each day holds lots of love! We hope you enjoy a glimpse into the blessings our children are to us. Here is where we hope to remember the milestones, the laughs, the tears, the trying moments, the celebrations, the funny things our kids say and do, and all the ways God has blessed our amazing family!

Ruldolf and the Elf

James' Christmas Preschool Program

James' preschool class had a super cute Christmas program for their parents and familes. His class sang 4 songs and there were cookies and punch for everyone after their show. James was super cute in his little lamb hat he had made in class! Katie had a blast yelling out"James! There's James Mommy!" during the whole show. She was proud of her big bro! We are so blessed by our sweet James! It's hard to believe he is growing up so quickly!

Parables Play 2009

Last week Abby, Drew, and Aiden made their acting debuts! We have been practicing since October for a Christmas play. Abby and Drew were able to take part in the play this year! This was my 5th time co-directing and co-writing a play with my good friend Katie Leonard. It was so fun to get to have my kids be part of it this year! Abby and Drew did a great job memorizing their lines. Looks like they may have caught the acting bug! Abby was especially good at acting. She was able to put a lot of feeling into her role and did an amazing job doing more than just reading lines! Looks like all her drama finally found a place to shine! :) Aiden was especially sweet as Baby Jesus. He recieved lots of Ohhhh's and Ahhh's! I am so proud of my wonderful kids! Directing and writing are really one of my biggest highlights of each year. I was so blessed to get the time with my kids and my high school/middle school girls. We are all read looking forward to next year’s play!

Your Opinion. You know you have one!

We have added a new feature to our blog! You can now check a box under each post to let us know what you think of that post. Team Askew sure loves to get feedback from you, so go ahead and check those boxes! You know you want to!

Baby Jesus is Doomed

James made the cutest baby Jesus decoration at school. They cut cardboard pieces from a halfed toilet paper roll, and glue two back to back, then they glue some hay down on it, put a peanut on the hay, and then covered the peanut with a little blanket fabric square to make it look like baby Jesus in the manger. It's my favorite craft they make in preschool each year. James was very proud to show me his after school! When we got home and I unloaded him from the car I asked him where baby Jesus was. He looked at me and gave me impish smile and replied, "I ate him!"

Poor Baby Jesus!

Our past baby Jesus' haven't had much luck either. Abby missed making one when she was in the 4 year old class because we were in California visiting family for Christmas

Drew brought his home and we proudly displayed it on our mantle. One night while all the teenagers were over I discovered that baby Jesus' head had been eaten by a mouse! When I discovered it I yelled," Oh no! A mouse ate Baby Jesus!" That got a big laugh out of the teenagers who didn't know what I was talking about!

So needless to say we will have to see if Katie's baby Jesus survives next year when she makes one! I'm really going to start to worry if hers doesn't....

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Holy cow, it's December! Time goes by so quickly these days! It sure has been cold here in Eugene. We will probably see snow soon! We are hoping for a white Christmas this  year!

Aiden turned 9 months old last week! Crazy how quickly he is growing! He has recently got his two bottom teeth, started waving hi and bye, and babbling Mamamamamamama! We are looking forward to seeing him enjoy his first Christmas this year!

We also had an addition to our family last week! One of my sweet high school girls Michaela ("Mickey") is going to be living with us now. She has always been a part of our family and it is really nice to have her as a more permanent member now. She is trying to work through some difficult things with her family right now. She will be living with us as she and her family figure out if they can mend their relationship and work things out to eventually have her live back with them again. Please keep her in your prayers. We sure do love her deeply and we are seeking God's will for her life. It is such a blessing to have her in our home. We are truly blessed.

We are beginning to decorate the house for Christmas. We have the lights up outside but the tree is still naked inside! Hopefully the poor tree will get some things hung on it this week! Our family just loves this time of year! The kids get so excited to see Christmas lights and decorations. It is amazing to see their pure joy this time of year! We will post some pictures as our decorating progresses! Take time to enjoy your family and the wonders of the Christmas season!

Thankful

Team Askew sure has lot to be thankful for! We are most thankful for each other and were blessed to celebrate Thanksgiving as a family.

Drew had a class feast family celebration at school where we got to come down to his class for some food and to listen to a few cute songs. Drew was so cute in his Pilgrim hat! James had a fun class party where they made Indian hats and necklaces and had a feast. They had a really fun day at school on Wednesday.

Thanksgiving was a rainy day here.  Nick and Drew played football in the rain while Abby splashed in all the huge puddles! After they dried off the kids came in and played Wii Sports together while Nick and I cooked. They love playing on the Wii!

Nick and I made a yummy dinner for us and the kids. Everything tasted so good! We went around the table and shared what we were each thankful for. It was such a fun and relaxing evening. We have so much to be thankful for!

Katie Turns 3!

It's hard to believe our Katie Bear is 3! She has been so excited for her special day. Her biggest request was for a rainbow birthday cake! She couldn't wait to eat that cake! She was so happy to get some new baby dolls and a babystroller along with some other fun toys. We had her party at a pizza place with an indoor playground. The kids enjoyed running around and having some fun together. All and all Katie had a great day! We sure love our sweet funny girl! We are so very blessed to have her in our family!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sweet Katie!

Pumpkin Time

The kids made some cute pumpkins this year! They drew a face on their pumpkin and we cut it out for them! They were very proud of their pumpkins and got a kick out of putting candles in them on the porch!
